Problem
A retailer using Shopify faced significant discrepancies between their freight expenses and the incoming freight revenue collected at checkout. Only 60% of the freight expense was being captured, and Shopify’s native shipping table lacked the necessary control to address this issue.
Solution
To boost freight revenue, Deadwood Digital designed and implemented a custom shipping cost model. This model calculated charges based on destination, item dimensions, and weight, drawing from the retailer’s product information, delivery company rates, and other service charges. As a result, accurate freight charges were applied to the customer.
We integrated this model into the retailer’s systems, including custom error handling and adjustable parameters, allowing the retailer to fine-tune the model as needed.
